Which riding hat is best for me?
Health and safety come first in equestrian sports, which is why a suitable, certified riding hat should not be missing from your riding equipment. In our shop, you will only find riding hats that comply with the current riding hat standard and thus with all safety standards. Now it depends on the riding discipline, which is decisive for your choice of the right riding hat. A modern riding hat can be worn in all equestrian disciplines. You can choose between a hard-shell riding hat, an in-mold riding hat and a hybrid riding hat. You can find out about the differences in our guide to riding hats. Harder eventing hats, also called cross-country helmets, are worn for eventing. These do not have a fixed sun visor, as this can cause serious injuries to the face in the event of a fall.
We carry riding hats from a variety of brands in our range. In addition to Felix Bühler, you can also find riding hats from KNIGHTSBRIDGE, uvex and Ride a Head in our shop.
How do I find my riding hat size?
To find the correct riding hat size, measure the circumference of your head using a tape measure. Place a tape measure horizontally around your head about 1 cm above your eyebrows. If you choose a riding hat without an adjustable size, the measured head circumference corresponds to the riding hat size. For riding hats with an adjustable size, compare your head circumference with our size charts, which you will find in the respective product description.
Which riding hat is suitable for beginners?
Riding is a sport that involves working with a live animal. Risky situations cannot always be foreseen or even avoided. That is why a riding hat is invariably part of a rider's basic equipment. No distinction is made between beginners and advanced riders. However, there are beginner models that differ in price from professional models with glitter decorations or integrated LEDs. When buying your first riding hat, pay attention to the current riding hat standard and the three-point harness.
What do I have to consider when buying a riding hat?
The following points are important when buying a riding hat:
Safety also includes the fit of the hat. The riding hat must not be too big or too small. So that you can adjust your hat individually to your head size, you can find riding hats with 3D size adjustment for a millimetre-precise fit in our online shop.
If the hat fits, it also sits comfortably. To ensure that you are also satisfied with the look of your riding hat, we at Kramer Equestrian offer you a wide selection of riding hats in different colours and with a variety of details. You will find riding hats in black, navy, brown and anthracite with a glitter look, integrated fabric elements and crown designs.
Which riding hat is the safest?
All our riding hats are certified and comply with the latest safety standards. You will therefore only find safe riding hats in the Kramer Equestrian range. They only differ in terms of comfort and appearance.
You can choose between hard-shell riding hats and in-mold riding hats as well as hybrid riding hats. In hard-shell riding hats, the thicker outer shell is inseparably bonded to the EPS inner shell. This makes the outside more impact-resistant, but the hat also gains weight as a result. Our in-mold riding hats, in which the EPS inner shell is welded to the thinner outer shell, are just as impact-resistant. However, they are lighter, which also increases wearing comfort. Hybrid riding hats combine the respective advantages of the in-mold and hard shell construction.
When should I replace my riding hat?
A riding hat protects the head from serious injuries caused by a fall. However, even if the fall is minor and the riding hat does not show any visible damage, hairline cracks may have appeared in the outer shell. Therefore, the riding hat must be replaced after a fall.
But even without a fall, the riding hat parts are subject to a certain amount of ageing and wear. Therefore, replace your riding hat after a few years if you use it regularly.
