How can I store dog treats and dog food?

There is a range of dog treats that vary greatly in consistency. On one hand, there are dry treats and dog biscuits that only crumble slightly and can therefore be easily placed in a treat pouch or jacket pocket. Training treats, on the other hand, are moist or semi-moist (soft, juicy consistency) - for storage, a lining that is easy to clean is recommended. For this purpose, there are treat puches made of silicone, which is washable. Treat pouches with elastic closures have a smooth lining, but are still more suitable for dry dog treats. The smooth interior nevertheless prevents crumbs from getting stuck and thus simplifies cleaning.
Dog treats and dry dog food can be stored permanently under optimal conditions, thereby preserving consistency, nutrients, and vitamins. For this purpose, treats and dry feed are kept in an airtight container, stored dry, in the dark, and at room temperature.
When dealing with chew treats, a similar approach should be taken. Packaged, they can sometimes last for years. Once opened, one should ensure cool, dry and dark conditions to store chew treats correctly.
If you wish to keep a portion of dry dog food for on the go, we recommend purchasing the travel bowl for dogs from sugar dog, which you can find along with other bowls and treat pouches in the dog bowls and travel accessories category.

What accessories do I need for feeding a dog?

  • Food bowl
  • Water bowl
  • Possibly a silicone mat
In most cases, the dog can be fed from a bowl placed on the floor. Ideally, the dog bowl should be non-slip or placed on a non-slip mat. In exceptional cases, such as dogs with disabilities (megaoesophagus) or joint problems, elevated feeding may be beneficial for the dog. However, it is important that the bowl is not positioned higher than the dog's hock joint. In such cases, adjustable height bowls or bowl holders are suitable.
At Kramer Equestrian, you can purchase robust ceramic dog bowls with a rubber ring on the bottom to prevent slipping during feeding. The smooth interior also makes cleaning a breeze.
The range is complemented by sugar dog's foldable travel dog bowls.

What are the best chew treats for dogs?

Chew treats can usefully supplement a dog's feed plan, as they are not only a tasty snack but also train the chewing muscles and coordination, clean the teeth, and provide mental stimulation for the dog. There is a whole range of chew treats for dogs available:

  • Beef and lamb skin
  • Beef ears
  • Bully sticks
  • Turkey necks
  • Lamb chews
  • Pig ears
  • Hard cheese chew sticks
Due to their various origins, chew treats differ in hardness, fat content and digestibility. Classic bully sticks, for example, are very nutritious but low in fat, while lamb skin is easily digestible and therefore suitable for sensitive dogs. A more detailed list of which chew treat is suitable for which dog can be found in the section "Chews and treats for your dog" in our comprehensive dog guide.
At Kramer Equestrian, you can purchase chew treats for dogs that are made from 100% natural ingredients and are therefore completely safe for dogs.
