How can I store dog treats and dog food?
There is a range of dog treats that vary greatly in consistency. On one hand, there are dry treats and dog biscuits that only crumble slightly and can therefore be easily placed in a treat pouch or jacket pocket. Training treats, on the other hand, are moist or semi-moist (soft, juicy consistency) - for storage, a lining that is easy to clean is recommended. For this purpose, there are treat puches made of silicone, which is washable. Treat pouches with elastic closures have a smooth lining, but are still more suitable for dry dog treats. The smooth interior nevertheless prevents crumbs from getting stuck and thus simplifies cleaning.
Dog treats and dry dog food can be stored permanently under optimal conditions, thereby preserving consistency, nutrients, and vitamins. For this purpose, treats and dry feed are kept in an airtight container, stored dry, in the dark, and at room temperature.
When dealing with chew treats, a similar approach should be taken. Packaged, they can sometimes last for years. Once opened, one should ensure cool, dry and dark conditions to store chew treats correctly.
If you wish to keep a portion of dry dog food for on the go, we recommend purchasing the travel bowl for dogs from sugar dog, which you can find along with other bowls and treat pouches in the dog bowls and travel accessories category.
