Denier is a unit of measurement. It is the ratio of mass or weight to length. Denier is the unit for the thickness of the thread or yarn, which is used in the production of fabrics. Fabrics with a higher denier (DEN) count tend to be thicker and more durable.

Face materials are considered waterproof from a waterproofness of 1,300 mm/m2/24 h. A waterproofness of 3,000 mm/m2, for example, means that a cylinder filled with water can be filled to a height of 3,000 mm at 60 mbar/min before water penetrates the fabric. Apart from the water column, the coating and the waterproof processing of the seams are decisive factors - these should be laminated/taped or welded.

Breathability refers to the ability of a man-made fibre or natural fibre to release the body's own water vapor. Breathable fabrics allow for quick drying already during use and thus prevent both heat build-up from the body under the fabric as well as cooling due to dammed up moisture.

This product is (also) available in pony size. Ponies and Shetland ponies have a special exterior which requires specific equipment that is particularly tailored to their body dimensions. Aside from their low height, small hooves, a compact back as well as a short croup are often characteristic for different breeds of ponies.

Taped or welded seams prevent water from penetrating through the seams of the horse rug. This is particularly important for field kept horses as well as during heavy rainfall to ensure that the horse is well protected against moisture penetration.

Ripstop fabrics are fabrics in which thicker threads are woven in at intervals of 5 to 8 millimetres, resulting in increased tear resistance. If the material tears at one point, the ripstop property ensures that the material only tears up to the next thicker thread. Ripstop fabrics can be clearly recognised by their typical crosshatched threads structure
