Winter riding jackets

When the icy wind blows through the stable aisles, it makes some riders feel reluctant to ride in the cold season. Wet and cold weather as well as freezing temperatures pose functional challenges for riding clothes. A warming riding jacket is therefore a must-have in the cold season, in order to be able to go to the stables.

The fit of a winter riding jacket

The fit of winter riding jackets is tailored to the needs of the rider in winter. Accordingly, the warmth performance of the winter jackets is the most important function. With different fits, our winter riding jackets can fulfil all wishes in terms of function and cut. Padded jackets, with their extremely low weight, have an additional advantage in addition to high thermal performance: they can be compressed and are therefore a practical companion on the road and when travelling. The padding of the winter riding jacket is incorporated between the outer material and the lining of the jacket. The easy-care synthetic fibre is particularly advantageous in wet weather conditions, as the thermal performance is maintained even when the material is wet. The winter blouson has a short and sporty cut. The blouson style is based on the cut of aviator or bomber jackets. Cuffs on the sleeves and at the waist of the jacket prevent wind from entering the jacket, thus protecting the rider from cold draughts.

The many possible variations make a 3-in-1 functional jacket a popular winter riding jacket. The jacket consists of two parts. An outer jacket made of waterproof, windproof and breathable material provides protection against wind and weather, while the removable inner jacket made of fleece or knitted fleece regulates the thermal insulation. Consequently, the jacket can be worn in three different ways, making it a practical companion not only in winter.

The comfort of a winter riding jacket

A high stand-up collar or a fur hood protect the rider from cold draughts in the stable or on the horse. An integrated wind flap at the end of the sleeves can also provide further protection against wind and cold temperatures.

To support the functions of the jacket, the „onion layer principle“ is recommended. Breathable and fast-drying sports undergarments made of synthetic fibre or antibacterial merino wool should be chosen as the first layer. Depending on the temperature, a warming pullover or fleece jacket is suitable as a second layer. The third layer is the winter riding jacket, which rounds off your winter outfit both functionally and fashionably. To maintain the waterproof functions of the winter riding jacket, regular waterproofing is necessary.

In addition to winter riding jackets, accessories such as scarves or hats offer reliable protection against the cold temperatures.
