Aniseed seeds are extracted from the fruits of the annual umbellifer and have many uses in the field of herbal medicine. Aniseed contains a fairly high proportion of fatty, digestive oils, which can have a decongestant and flatulence-reducing effect on the gastrointestinal tract. The secretion of the digestive glands can be increased and the muscles in the digestive tract are relaxed, which can promote the horse's defecation. Thus, aniseed is ideally suited for preventive feeding of horses prone to colic and should not be missing in any stable first-aid kit. Due to the rather high content of essential oils (3-4%), the seeds can also have a positive effect on the removal of bronchial mucus and thus support the horse in expectoration.
Feeding advice:
Horses (600kg bw) 20g daily.
Cobs and ponies 10g daily
1 tablespoon corresponds to 14g.
