Rain riding coats

Even in rainy weather you don’t have to miss out on your ride. Our rain coats also meet high demands and equip you optimally for excursions in wet weather.

The fit of the rain riding coats is adapted to the movements during riding and can thus ensure freedom of movement in the saddle. Built-in leg loops prevent the coat from slipping on the horse and riding slits provide additional comfort. A hood keeps you dry even when working on the ground or in the stable. Shoulder capes are suitable for longer stays in the rain for extra protection.

What does waterpoofness mean?

How waterproof a rain jacket really is is indicated by a water column. It is tested to see how much water pressure the material can withstand before the water penetrates the jacket. The European standard DIN EN 343 states that products with a water column of 1,300 mm or more are waterproof (class 3, high standard). We recommend a waterproofness of 5,000 mm or more for a winter jacket.

Oilskin or Wax-Cotton

The quality of the coating of the rain riding coat has a direct effect on the waterproofness. Wax-Cotton clothing is characterised by waterproofness and high durability. This is an oilskin material made from oiled cotton. Weather-resistant PU coatings are also frequently used for mackintoshes. Here, too, a hard-wearing material ensures popularity in use with horses.

In addition, when choosing a rain coat, you should definitely pay attention to the lamination of the seams and zips, which can prevent water from entering the sensitive areas.

Visibility in road traffic can be limited depending on the strength of the rain. Reflective piping and prints on rainwear ensure greater safety at dusk and in the dark.

By using a rain riding coat, you protect your upper body from precipitation . Waterproof rain riding trousers, riding gloves, chaps or boots are therefore a suitable addition to your rain outfit. When it is windy, we often perceive temperatures to be cooler than they actually are. To prevent this wind chill effect, it is advisable to make sure that your jacket is windproof or to provide wind protection under your coat. Fleece or functional jackets with a windproof membrane are particularly suitable for this.

In order to maintain the functional properties of the riding coat, proper care plays an important role. The care instructions on the product must always be followed. The impregnation can be refreshed by washing with a special impregnation detergent. When not in use, the mackintosh should be stored in a dry place and protected from sunlight. Exposure to sunlight can cause colours to fade in the long term.
