Which therapy items for horse and rider are useful?

A harmonious relationship between horse and rider can only be achieved when both parties are free from stress, tension and strain. It doesn't matter whether dressage is performed at a higher level in the arena or a leisurely hack is undertaken. Tension of a physical and psychological nature can disturb the harmony and stand in the way of both the horse's and rider's freedom of movement. A regular check of the mobility and flexibility of the tissue structures, as well as the inclusion of exercise and relaxing exercises in the training plan should be part of the daily routine for horse and rider. Therefore various therapy items for horse and rider can be useful here.

In horses, tension is often found along the neck and back muscles. A therapy rug with integrated ceramic fibres reflects the horse's body heat on an infrared level and penetrates deep into the muscles. The blood supply to the muscles improves, the back relaxes and pain is relieved. A therapy rug can not only mean wellness for your horse, but can also be useful for weather-sensitive, old and stressed horses.
We have compiled 10 reasons why a therapy rug for horses can be useful.
If your horse has suffered tendon damage or even has a chronic disease such as arthrosis or spavin, therapy boots of various kinds can be helpful. You will find both cooling and warming therapy boots in our therapy items for horses. In this overview you can see which therapy boots are best to use and when.
Blockages can also be relieved by massage. However, some blockages are located in the lower muscle layers, which are difficult to reach from the outside. In this case, with a little practice and careful approach, a balance pad can be used. Because of the soft surface, the horse has to balance itself and tense the deep muscles. Many horses rock themselves back and forth on a balance pad because they feel how it relaxes them and releases blockages.
We have written about the most common ailments of riding horses in our guide to Therapy and Regeneration for horses.

Riders are often more concerned about the welfare of their horses than their own. However, in order for their horses to run smoothly, the rider must also be supple when sitting in the saddle. Therefore, keep a critical eye on your mental and physical well-being. Tension caused by bad posture or everyday stress is also on the rider's agenda. In addition to relaxation exercises, heat is also one of the best ways for riders to relax their muscles. Especially in winter, when it is freezing cold, we tend to hunch our shoulders. This is exactly when hats, collars, scarves, functional shirts and riding tights with fused ceramic fibre can provide a cosy warmth and relaxed muscles.
You can therefore buy useful therapy items for riders in our online shop.
You can read about the ways in which you can support your health as a rider, as well as the most common equestrian illnesses, in our guide to Therapy and Regeneration for riders.

What do I have to consider when buying therapy items?

Therapy is always based on a medical history and treatment by a competent doctor and/or veterinarian. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that you always seek the advice of a doctor or veterinarian when purchasing therapy items. He or she can best determine which therapy items are suitable for the horse, rider or dog to support recovery. Only this way can you be sure that the therapy item is adapted to your or your four-legged friend's condition.

An important tip is the use of heat: Heat in the form of thermo-therapy is a good way to recover in almost all cases. If it is not necessarily an acute injury or an inflammation, heat can stimulate the blood circulation that is inhibited due to the injury and thus support the healing process. With fresh injuries, however, you should urgently refrain from heat and apply cold instead. This is because cold inhibits the spread of inflammatory germs and thus stops the further development of an acute injury. Heat will only make the injury worse. Therefore, ask your doctor and/or veterinarian.

Finally, you should ensure a good fit, this is especially true for therapy boots and therapy rugs for horses, as well as for therapy coats for dogs.
