DOG COLLARS AND DOG LEASHES AT Kramer Equestrian
A dog collar and lead belong to the basic equipment for a dog along with suitable dog food and other care products. In addition to horses, countless riders have given their heart to another four-legged friend. Dogs are one of the most popular companions of a rider, as they can actively participate in the life in the stable and they also like to accompany horse and rider while hacking. In addition to riding clothes and horse accessories, Kramer Equestrian has been offering suitable accessories for dogs for many years, including dog toys, dog beds and dog coats. The dog collars and dog leads in our assortment are made of different materials and are available in many designs, so that every dog owner can find the right equipment for walking their dog.
DOG COLLARS & LEADS - THE AGONY OF CHOICE
Dog collars and leads must be made of robust materials, so that even dogs that are more energetic and active cannot tear themselves off the lead. As a rule, collars and leads are made of easy-care nylon. Nylon dog accessories are very tear-resistant and available in all possible colours. Often the leads and collars are embroidered with cool writing or patterns. They are also very easy to maintain. If they are dirty, they can be cleaned easily with some warm water and a soft brush and sponge. Leather collars and leashes, on the other hand, require more care. You should treat them regularly with leather care products to enjoy them for as long as possible. Dirt can be brushed off easily and wiped off with a damp cloth. An important component of leads and collars for dogs are also high-quality fasteners and eyelets. The classic metal fasteners are among the bestsellers. But nowadays plastic fasteners are also very robust and durable.
DOG HARNESS OR COLLAR?
The question whether dog owners should rather use a collar or a dog harness is very controversial. Especially with dogs and small puppies that are not (yet) kept on a lead, it is often experienced that they pull very strongly on the lead due to their strong urge to move and can even harm themselves. If the dog is not yet sufficiently trained, a dog harness is usually recommended, as the sensitive neck and related body parts such as the larynx, windpipe or cervical vertebrae are spared. However, many dog owners are also of the opinion that a harness restricts the dog's freedom of movement. For well-trained dogs, on the other hand, where there is no pressure from either the owner or the dog itself, the use of a dog collar is acceptable.
DOG LEADS AND COLLARS - MORE SAFETY & COMFORT FOR DOG OWNER
There are now many innovative solutions in the field of dog accessories that make life easier for dogs and especially for dog owners. Especially when going for an evening walk, many owners are concerned about the safety of their dogs. Especially with dogs with dark fur it is very difficult for other road users to recognize them in the darkness. With reflective collars and leads or flashing pendants you can avoid dangerous situations in traffic or even let the dog off the lead and run free if the circumstances allow it. In order to generally feel more secure, there are also leashes available today that are equipped with a grip material so that the lead lies better in the hands. For dog owners who want to let the dog run freely, but still want to keep control, the so called extendible leads are suitable, with which the dog can move freely up to a certain radius, but the dog owner can also determine at any moment, with the help of a stopper, how far the dog may go. In the same context, a tracking lead is also suitable, which is also often used for free-running training.
HOW DO I DETERMINE THE CORRECT LENGTH OF THE COLLAR?
For perfect comfort, the collar should not be too tight and ideally have a soft padding. To measure the neck circumference, it is best to use a flexible tape measure or string that is placed around the dog's neck and then measured using a folding rule or ruler. Please note that there should be at least two fingers between the neck and the collar so that the dog is not constricted. For a dog harness the chest circumference also plays an important role. To make sure that the harness is not too tight, a flat hand should fit between each part of the harness. However, the harness should not be too large and should not slip constantly, as this also impairs the dog's freedom of movement and it could also get caught on objects more easily. Ideally, the harnesses and collars are individually adjustable in size.
